Students from the NUS Robotics Specialization Master’s Course had the unique opportunity to visit SICK Singapore, a subsidiary of SICK Germany. Founded by Dr. Erwin Sick in 1946, the company has evolved into a global provider of intelligent sensors and solutions for industrial automation technology.

Dr. Sick recognized the power of light in addressing a diverse range of challenges, when combined with precise optics and intelligent electronics. This laid the foundation for the establishment of SICK. Our students were enlightened by the innovative journey that SICK has undertaken since its inception.

The visit proved to be particularly insightful for our aspiring robotic engineers, as they delved into the intricacies of intelligent sensor solutions, recognizing the pivotal role sensors play in the seamless operation of robots. Engaging with industry leaders in this field allowed our students to not only deepen their understanding but also broaden their knowledge base significantly.

This firsthand experience at SICK Singapore has undoubtedly enriched the educational journey of our students, providing them with valuable insights into the cutting-edge advancements in robotics and automation technology. We are grateful for the opportunity to connect with industry pioneers and extend our appreciation to SICK Singapore for hosting such an informative and enriching visit.
