  • Towards Smart Service Robots with Task Intelligence

    Prof Jong-Hwan Kim has been with the School of Electrical Engineering at KAIST since 1988 and is currently Professor and Dean of College of Engineering, KAIST. Dr. Kim is Director for both KoYoung-KAIST AI Joint Research Center and Machine Intelligence and Robotics MSREP (Multi-Sponsored Research Platform). He was Director for the Research Center for Robot Intelligence Technology in 2009~2014. His research interests include machine intelligence learning, intelligence technology, and ubiquitous and genetic robotics. Prof Kim was the recipient of the science and technology award from the President of Republic of Korea in 1997 and has been elevated to 2009 IEEE Fellow.

  • Industrial Design Approach Exemplified on Zoo-kinematic Robotic End Effectors

    Prof. Dipl.-Ing. (Univ.) Axel Thallemer is Full Professor with tenure at the National University of Singapore and Deputy Head of Research for Industrial Design. In his fifteen years of industry practice he was acting at the Research and Development Center of Porsche, followed by founding and heading Festo Corporate Design, since then freelance consulting for the industry. Precursory professorships were in Munich, Hamburg and Austria (Dean and Chair of Industrial Design at Linz university, scientifically repositioning under the brand “scionic®”), currently there are 16 additional visiting professorships and about 35 patents. Life Fellow of The RSA in London, founded 1754 and i/IDSA, reviewer for ICED, IEEE as well as ICoRD and Journal of Engineering Design, JED.
